The Well Edited Reset Part 1: The Gentle Wardrobe Reset

The Well Edited Reset isn’t about having less. It's all about making space for what truly works, so getting dressed (and getting on with life) feels easier.

I’ve never been particularly good at loud New Year’s resolutions. They always feel well-intentioned, slightly unrealistic, and somehow already exhausting by mid-January.

What I do love, though, is using this time of year to pause - somewhere between school drop-off, emails, work, sport pick-ups and life - and take a more considered look at how I get dressed.

Because the reality is: most mornings are busy. You’re juggling lunches, schedules, meetings and that familiar moment of standing in front of your wardrobe thinking, why does nothing feel quite right?

Over time, we all accumulate pieces that made sense in one chapter but don’t quite fit the life we’re living now. Clothes we bought for a version of ourselves that had more time, fewer responsibilities, or different priorities. Things we keep “just in case”. Pieces that once worked beautifully but now feel slightly off.

This isn’t about rules or reinvention. It’s about dressing in a way that supports your life - the busy, full, layered one you’re actually living.

This January, I’m sharing a three-part series on how to edit, re-style and invest with intention. No pressure. No guilt. Just a calmer, more authentic way of getting dressed.

PART ONE: The Gentle Wardrobe Edit

January is a natural reset - not because we need to become someone new, but because it gives us a quiet moment to take stock.

A wardrobe edit doesn’t need to be ruthless. It needs to be honest. Start by pulling everything out. Yes, all of it. Seeing your wardrobe quickly shows you what you really wear - and what’s just taking up space.

As you go, ask yourself:
  • Does this suit the life I’m living now?
  • Do I feel confident in this today?
  • Would I choose this again, knowing what I know now?
If the answer is no, that doesn’t mean the piece failed. It simply means it’s done its job.
This is also the moment to recognise your uniform - the pieces you reach for on repeat because they work. Embrace them. They’re telling you something about who you are and how you live.
And before you even think about outfits, start from the inside. Great fitting lingerie and underwear matter more than we give them credit for. When what’s underneath feels comfortable, supportive and beautiful, everything else sits better. Confidence starts there.
