Anine Bing in Brisbane

Last week we welcomed Anine Bing to Brisbane for her only Queensland appearance, and honestly, I'm still smiling.

The day began with a Beverly Hills style brunch at SK Steak & Oyster. Models, over 100 women who have loved and collected Anine's pieces with us over the years, and my favourite DJ, Adela from the Sunshine Coast, setting the mood.

The heart of the morning was our conversation. I sat down with Anine and we went there: motherhood, breakups, building a business, being a woman in fashion and the hard stuff that shapes you. She was open, funny, and refreshingly real, all the way back to building her eponymous brand out of her garage.

From there we moved to the boutique on James Street for an afternoon of champagne, dancing, shopping and more conversation with our Calexico community.

For someone with her profile, Anine was the most down-to-earth guest you could imagine. Nothing was too much trouble. She chatted with every client and took selfies with everyone (and yes, she genuinely cannot take a bad photo). Great taste, great looks and a very big heart.

Anine has been with Calexico from the very beginning, and somehow it took this long to realise we have a mutual girl crush. She's told Brisbane she'll be back soon, and we'll have the champagne on ice.
